Lottery Win Turns Macks Creek Woman's Dream Into Reality
A Macks Creek woman started her weekend like many others - with two exceptions. Her son was spending the night at his grandparents’ house, and she bought a Missouri Lottery ticket. Heather Becker, 34, didn’t plan on stopping at Melton’s 64-73 Junction, 699 State Highway 64 in Buffalo, and purchasing a Lottery ticket. Something about the "Ruby Red 7’s" Scratchers game caught her eye. The last-minute decision made her $27,777 richer.
She went about her daily errands giving little thought to the purchase. After returning home, she remembered the ticket was nestled inside of her wallet.
"I was home alone," she recalled. "My husband was out of town. I sat down and scratched it off. I about had a heart attack!"
She was excited about the win, but also disappointed, because "nobody was there to celebrate with me." So, she called her husband to share the news.
"My husband came home," she said. "He looked at it (ticket). We couldn’t believe it, so we took it up to the closest store to check it. They gave us confirmation. Then we went out to dinner!"
Becker, a hair dresser, added that she is "so grateful" for her recent win, because she is finally able to turn one of her lifelong dreams into a reality. She plans to use the windfall to open her own beauty salon.
Becker, who won $2,500 on a Missouri Lottery ticket several years ago, said her husband now refers to her as the "luckiest person he’s ever met."
"Ruby Red 7’s
," a $2 game with a top prize of $27,777, officially began on Jan. 23.
