$1 Power Play Purchase Makes Imperial Woman $1 Million Dollar Winner

Story Photo An extra $1 purchase turned an Imperial woman into an instant millionaire.  Patricia Nugent, 60, added the Power Play feature to her Powerball ticket that she bought at QuikTrip, S. 2600 Old Highway 141 in Fenton, for the Feb. 6 drawing.  She ended up matching all five white-ball numbers drawn - 14, 22, 52, 54 and 59 – to win the second-tier prize of $200,000, but that’s not all.  Her decision to add the Power Play feature automatically converted her winnings into a $1 million payout.

Powerball is a multi-state game that features jackpots starting at $20 million.  Nugent used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers from the Feb. 6 drawing.

To date, the biggest Powerball jackpot ever won in Missouri is $254 million.  The Wilson family, James II, Shirley, James III and Terril, all of St. Louis, split the jackpot in 2007.
