St. Peters Woman Wins $200,000 Playing Powerball

Story Photo audio icon A series of birthdays that she has been playing for years led to a $200,000 Powerball prize for a St. Peters woman.  Marla Stone said that the numbers she used included the birthdates of her children.  She matched all five white-ball numbers in the March 3 Powerball drawing which were:  7, 9, 14, 45 and 49.   Stone learned of her good fortune when checking the numbers on the Internet the next day.

"I’m still in shock," Stone said after claiming her ticket at the St. Louis regional Lottery office.

Stone purchased the winning ticket at Thoele Convenience Store, 403 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., in St. Peters.  She is the 161st Missourian to win the second-level prize in Powerball.  Stone said that the money would be used to pay off her house, among other things.

"Well, I’m almost retirement age, so it will go into my retirement fund," she explained.

Stone said that she may change her numbers now, but she would continue to play the Lottery.

"It’s fun, it doesn’t cost a lot, and you never know; you might win," said Stone.

Powerball is a multi-lottery Numbers Game with jackpots that start at $20 million.  For an extra dollar at the time of purchase, players can add Power Play and multiply all non-jackpot prizes by a Power Play number selected during the drawing.
