Joseph Vereeke of Drury has a routine – a weekly stop at Casey’s General Store, 208 S. Main Street in Mountain Grove, for gas and Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets.  This custom is followed up by returning home to scratch the tickets with his wife.  Although he has "won small" prizes before, he never expects much.  That’s why he was "very excited" when he uncovered a $10,003 "Bingo Multiplier" Scratchers prize on Feb. 26.

The father of five, grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of seven, said it "took a while to sink in that we won $10,000."

When asked about plans for the windfall, he noted that he was looking forward to one thing.

"(We) have one bill at the bank, and we’re going to pay it off," he shared.  "Then I’ll be debt-free for the first time in my life!"

As for other thoughts on his win, the retired laborer said he wishes "I could do it again!"

Bingo Multiplier, a $3 game with a top prize of $50,003, officially began on Dec. 25, 2009.

The Missouri Lottery generates nearly $1 billion a year in sales and contributes more than $200 million annually to Missouri public education programs, including the A+ Scholarship Program, Special Education Excess Costs and Vocational Technical Schools.  For a complete list of programs funded, go to Molottery.com.
