Odessa Woman Banks $30,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon Tracy Pirowski of Odessa is a Powerball player.  She routinely buys tickets for the multi-lottery jackpot game, but it was a Scratchers ticket that delivered a $30,000 prize.  Pirowski picked a handful of Scratchers tickets at 7-Eleven, 7901 W. Mexico Road in St. Peters, on March 1.

"I just went two, two, two and two out of all these tickets," explained Pirowski.

Scratching the tickets later at home, she didn’t have to wait long before shouting for joy.

"It was the second number on the first ticket I scratched," Pirowski recalled.  "It was there.
"I wasn’t sure what I was seeing.  My boyfriend was sitting there and I said, ’I think I want to scream, but I don’t know yet.’  He looked at it and goes, ’You can scream.’"

Pirowski had uncovered the top prize on a $2 "Triple Payout" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.

After some celebration, she began to figure out where to claim her prize and what she would spend it on.  She presented it for payment at the Kansas City regional Lottery office on March 4.

Pirowski said she would put the money in the bank and "hold on to it," after being laid off from her job last year.

"I’m still trying to breathe it all in," she said.

"Triple Payout" is a $2 game that officially began on August 29, 2009.  After Pirowski’s claim, three top prizes remain in the game.
