“I’m really, really lucky,” asserted James “Jim” Wewerka as he claimed a $25,000 prize from a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket he purchased at Lottery headquarters, 1823 Southridge Drive, in Jefferson City.

According to Wewerka, 51, he had purchased a $20 “$5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza” ticket at a local Lottery retailer earlier in the day, winning $100.  Riding what he predicted could be a streak of good luck, the Jefferson City man decided to take that $100 to the Lottery’s main office to try his hand at another $20 Scratchers game.

“I said, ‘That $100 is sitting here looking at me,’” he shared.  “I didn’t want to play it on the same ticket, but I like the $20 games, so I got some of these (“4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza”).  I spent $80 to win $25,000!”

Though he felt lucky, Wewerka remained calm as he scratched his tickets.

“Oh, there’s $1,000,” he recalled of his reaction to the prizes as he worked his way through the ticket.  “Oh, there’s another $1,000… and another.”

When the prizes were fully revealed, the co-owner of J & S Advanced Carpet Cleaning found himself looking at 15 $1,000 prizes, as well as a $10,000 prize, leading to a grand total of $25,000.

“I’ll probably just stick it in the bank,” he said.  “I’ve got everything I could possibly need.”

“4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza” is a $20 game that officially began Jan. 26, 2008.  Players can win up to 20 times on the same ticket as they try to match their numbers to any of the ticket’s winning numbers.

Two top prizes of $4 million remain unclaimed in the game.  Details and available prize information for all current Scratchers games can be found online on the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers page.
