Wedding in the Works for Springfield Lottery Winners

Story Photo audio icon A wedding was already on the horizon for one Springfield couple, but a recent Missouri Lottery win has prompted the first-time Lottery winners to move the planning process forward.

Dale Dotting, 49, "had a feeling about ’Monte Carlo’" while shopping at Porter’s So-Lo Market, 1475 N. National Ave. in Springfield, on Feb. 11.  That "feeling" developed into a $100,000 win.

Dotting immediately called his fiancé, Margaret Wright, 60, with the news.

"(I) told her, ’I won $100,000,’" he recalled.  "She started crying.  She wanted to see the ticket first.  She thought I might have seen it wrong."

Dotting picked up Wright and the pair drove to the Missouri Lottery’s Springfield regional office to claim the prize.

"I had to scratch my eyes three times to realize that I wasn’t seeing things," he said.

The couple plan to use a portion of their winnings to pay for their wedding.  In addition to the nuptials, the duo plans to pay off both of their vehicles.

"Monte Carlo," a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on June 13, 2009.
