Things are looking up for a St. Louis man who plans to pay off credit card debt and college loans with the money he won playing the Missouri Lottery. Daniel Manchanda (63116) won $58,650 playing the Lottery’s Club Keno game at Shot Heaven, a sports bar and grill at 5233 Gravois Ave. in St. Louis.
In Club Keno, players choose how many different numbers or “spots” they want to play – ranging from 1 to 10 – and 20 random numbers from a field of 1-80 are then chosen in computerized drawings every five minutes. Manchanda played an 8-spot game, selecting the numbers 1, 2, 3, 9, 12, 13, 22 and 75. He also purchased the bonus Bulls Eye feature, successfully matching the number 3 to increase his grand-prize total.
Manchanda, 34, watched live as the monitor displayed the winning numbers. It didn’t take long for him to recognize the combination he had hand-picked and routinely used in the past.
“My friends were there,” Manchanda said, of the moment he realized all eight of his numbers had been selected in the draw. “They kept saying, ‘put it in the machine; put it in the machine.’”
Put it in the machine, he did – using Shot Heaven’s Check-A-Ticket machine to verify his ticket was a jackpot winner.
“I think my friends were happier than I was,” he said. “Well, not happier, but maybe more excited.”
