The $3 she plunked down at the grocery store for a Missouri Lottery “Crossword” Scratchers ticket led one Louisiana woman to a $50,000 top prize and a trip to Jefferson City to claim her winnings. Priscilla Price, 30, purchased her winning ticket at Kroger, 3328 Georgia St., in Louisiana.
A fan of the “Crossword” game, Price said it’s the “anticipation of scratching it off” and looking for the words that make the game her favorite.
As she scratched the ticket in her car outside the store, her initial reaction to the big win was disbelief.
“I said, ‘I’m not going to believe it’s true until they say it is in Jeff City,’” she said. “It’s so unexpected; good things don’t usually happen to me.”
After “maybe putting half in the bank,” Price plans to take advantage of her unexpected prize money by looking into a new car and computer.
Her friend, Dallas, who was with her when she purchased the ticket and also accompanied her to Jefferson City to claim her prize, had one bit of advice for others seeking to win on a Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game.
“Don’t play ‘Crossword,’” she teased. “We’ll play those.”
“Crossword,” which officially started July 18, 2009, is a $3 game offering a top prize of $50,000. Five top prizes remain in play, as well as thousands of prizes ranging from $3 to $5,000. Information on remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
