Joshua Hatcher parlayed a single-digit win on a Missouri Lottery ticket into a $5,000 cash prize.  The Rolla man used the $6 he won on a previous game to purchase a winning “$100,000 Taxes Paid” Scratchers ticket at Casey’s General Store, 808 E. Highway 72, in Rolla.

“I got gas there and cashed in another ticket I had won $6 on,” he explained.  “I thought I won $4,000 on the new ticket, but then I saw another number and took it back into the store and asked them, ‘Exactly where do I need to take this?’”

That led the 29-year-old to Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City to claim his $5,000 prize.

“It just looked appealing,” he said when asked why he chose the “$100,000 Taxes Paid” ticket.  “I never play the same one.  I always get something different.”

Hatcher was also asked if he had any plans for his prize money.

“Oh yeah,” he said.  “I’m going to help some friends out, and I have some things to do to the house.”

“$100,000 Taxes Paid,” which officially started Dec. 25, 2009, is a $5 game offering a top prize of $100,000 – taxes paid.  Three top prizes, as well as thousands of prizes between $5 and $10,000, remain in play.  Further information on remaining prizes on all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
