Hannibal Woman Wowed by Wheel of Fortune Win

A Hannibal woman’s morning routine ended with an unexpected twist on Jan. 28.  Janice Huling, 47, dropped off her daughters at school and stopped at Pick-A-Dilly, 1910 Market Street in Hannibal, for a few Scratchers tickets, as she does most days.  What happened next is something she’d hoped for, but never thought she’d experience.

Huling bought two "Wheel of Fortune" Scratchers tickets and began scratching.

"I figured it would be $2 winners on each one," she began.  "It kept getting bigger and bigger.  I re-checked the letters, because I figured I’d messed up somewhere.  It’s not like me to win like that." 

The first-time Lottery winner couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the $2,500 prize, so she returned to the store to have a clerk check the ticket and verify her win.

After receiving confirmation, she called her boyfriend to share the news.  Although he had just gotten off from work and hadn’t slept yet, he "jumped right up" and drove Huling to the Jefferson City regional office to claim the prize.

"I was dumbfounded all the way here," she said about her feelings on the win.

"Wheel of Fortune," a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, offers players the opportunity to win up to seven times on a single ticket.  To date, four top prizes, as well as thousands of prizes ranging from $3 to $25,000, remain in the game.
