Tuesday and Friday nights are going to get a lot more exciting for Missouri Lottery players. Beginning Jan. 31, Mega Millions will join Powerball to offer players even more chances to win jackpot prizes for just $1 per play.
“We’ve added a new star to our game line-up,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “Now our players will have two huge jackpot games to choose from, allowing them the chance to play for jackpots worth millions of dollars four days a week.”
Just like Powerball, Mega Millions boasts a large second prize and a total of nine ways to win. The jackpots start at $12 million and grow to mega millions!
“We’re ready for some “mega” fun and can’t wait until a Missouri player is able to claim a jackpot prize,” Reardon said. “Players will find Mega Millions at all Missouri Lottery retailers that offer Numbers Games such as Powerball, Lotto and Show Me Cash.”
While Powerball and Mega Millions are very similar, there are differences, including the range of numbers. Mega Millions features five numbers between 1 and 56 and one “Mega Ball” number between 1 and 46. It also has a multiplier option, the “Megaplier®,” that provides a chance to increase all prizes except the jackpot by four times.
Mega Millions drawings will be held on Tuesday and Friday nights at 10 p.m., while Powerball drawings are held at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. To date, the highest Mega Millions jackpot prize claimed is $390 million – a prize split by two ticketholders in Georgia and New Jersey.
