A Bucyrus man turned $1 into $25,000 tax paid* when his SHOW ME 5 ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Oct. 28. Billy Tarrants, 60, said he bought his $1 winning ticket that same afternoon when he stopped in Pump N Pantry, 1029 S. Highway 63 in Houston. Tarrants, who owns Ozark Termite and Pest Control, said he plans to use the money to buy more land. Tarrants let the computer select his winning combination. The winning numbers from the Oct. 28 drawing were: 1, 5, 9, 18 and 26. To date, 918 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid have been sold since the game began in November 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
