Brighton Man Rings In New Year With Lottery Win

When Harold Brewer of Brighton stopped for a gallon of milk and a few Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets on New Year’s Eve, he didn’t realize he would start the new year a little richer. Brewer, 55, purchased four Scratchers tickets, two for his wife, Debbie, and two for himself. Later that evening he scratched his “Bingo Multiplier” ticket to win $50,003.

“I matched all four corner numbers, and knew I had won at least $2,500. My wife said ‘Keep scratching,’ and my winning numbers filled in the cross. Then we knew we’d won the top prize,” explained Brewer. “My wife just started crying. You always see other people winning big prizes, but you never think it could happen to you.”

Brewer, a transportation manager for O’Reilly Automotive in Springfield, purchased his winning Lottery ticket at Expressway Stop, 2785 State Highway O in Springfield. Brewer and his wife have kept the win a secret, but plan on surprising their two sons.

“We plan on slipping some of the prize money into cards for our kids. My wife also wants a new car,” said Brewer.

Bingo Multiplier” is a $3 game in which players can win up to six times on a single ticket with a chance to increase their prize with the multiplier feature. The top prize in the game is $50,003.
