The holidays were brighter for Gary Woods, a welder from Ketchum, Okla., when he won $25,000 with a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket purchased on Dec. 26. Woods, 57, purchased his winning “Monte Carlo” Scratchers ticket at Beer Store and More, 206 S. Jesse James Rd., in Pineville.

“I almost went to the floor,” said Woods after realizing his win. He decided he should confirm what he thought was a winning ticket with the sales clerk. Woods said “she hollered and waved the ticket around,” after assuring him he was a winner.

Woods said he visits family in Pineville every week and routinely stops at Beer Store and More to purchase Lottery tickets. He enjoys scratching his tickets with friends and dreaming about hitting the “big one.”

“I promised my grandson that if I ever hit it big, I’d pay for his wedding. I’ll pay off some bills, too,” explained Woods.

Monte Carlo” is a $5 Scratchers ticket with the chance to win up to 15 times on a single ticket and offers a top prize of $100,000.
