Lentner Man Takes Home $5,000 Crossword Prize

Story Photo audio icon A Lentner man found himself with a little more to be thankful for on Nov. 25.  Walter Wilhoit stopped for gas and a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket at Casey’s General Store, 115 W. Broadway St. in Madison, and received a $5,000 surprise in the car.

Wilhoit said he immediately called his wife to share the news.  His next step was to drive to the Lottery’s Jefferson City headquarters, a journey he had taken before, to claim his prize.

"I won $5,000 earlier this year on Bingo," he shared.

The two-time winner said he will pay bills and "put some gravel on the driveway" with his most recent windfall.

"The rest of it, my wife will take over probably," he added.

"Crossword," a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on July 18.
