Doniphan Couple Thankful for Good Fortune

A Doniphan couple received a happy start to their holiday season on Nov. 21.  Lisa and Billy Wilson, both 44, were running errands when they decided to stop at Casey’s General Store, 403 Washington St. in Doniphan, to purchase two "Holiday Cash" Scratchers tickets – one for them and one for Lisa’s mother.  While on their way to the next stop, they scratched the ticket in the car and revealed a $10,000 prize.

"We were driving," she began.  "I kept on scratching, and they were all $1,000.  I thought my husband was going to have a conniption!"

The next step for the Wilsons was to head to Lisa’s mother’s home to share the news and deliver the ticket they purchased for her moments earlier.

It was a lucky day for the entire family.  Although Lisa’s mother didn’t win $10,000, she did end up with a $5 prize.

When asked about plans for the windfall, the Wilsons said they were going to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving, a new computer and a truck.
"It’s amazing," she added.  "It’s a miracle."

"Holiday Cash," a $2 game with a top prize of $25,000, officially began on Oct. 24.
