Former Bar Owner Wins $5,068 Keno Prize at Old Stomping Grounds
An Iberia man has another memory to add to his list of good times had at his favorite local establishment. George Alderman, former owner of Junction Club, which is now Willy’s Place, Highway 17 in Iberia, said he sold the bar years ago, but still goes in "a couple of times per week" for dinner and Club Keno. Alderman, who has won on Club Keno twice before ($10,002 and approximately $5,000) found himself holding another winning ticket on Nov. 5.
The retired bar owner was sitting with his wife when he realized he matched seven numbers on his Club Keno ticket to win a total of $5,068.
"We were just sitting there watching it, and when the last number popped up, I told her, ’We got all seven,’ but she didn’t believe me," he recalled.
Over laughter, his wife added that her husband "kids with me sometimes."
After confirming the win with the clerk, the Aldermans finished their dinner and made plans to travel to the Jefferson City Lottery office the following day to claim the prize.
When asked about plans for the prize money, Alderman said he will "play more Keno."
To play Club Keno
, players can choose how many different numbers (also called "spots") they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of 1-80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every five minutes.
