LaRussell Woman Wins $88,000 Top Prize

A LaRussell woman was "in shock" when she uncovered an $88,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Emerald Green 8’s" Scratchers ticket on Oct. 30.  Karen White, 55, purchased the ticket at Kum & Go, 2577 High St. in Sarcoxie. 

"I was sitting in my car, and I thought it was a joke," White revealed, when asked about how she discovered her ticket was a winner.

As for plans for the windfall, the first-time Lottery winner said she will "put it in the bank."

"Emerald Green 8’s," a $5 game with a top prize of $88,000, officially began on July 18.  The game has four top prizes, as well as thousands of $5 to $10,000 prizes, remaining in play.

The Missouri Lottery generates nearly $1 billion a year in sales and contributes more than $259 million annually to Missouri public education programs, including the A+ Scholarship Program, Special Education Excess Costs, the Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Future Minority Teacher Scholarships.
