Columbia Woman Receives $6,000 Surprise

A Columbia woman "couldn’t believe it" when she checked her Missouri Lottery Pick 4 ticket and discovered she was $6,000 richer. Lois Dampier, 47, said had a good feeling before selecting her own Pick 4 numbers for the Oct. 17 drawing.
"I have twins, and I thought, well I will pick two," she began, referring to her decision to select a special combination of numbers to play. "The number five, my husband and I both together have five children. The three, I have three biological children of my own, and then he has the two. I put the numbers together. It was 2, 5, 3, 2."
Dampier had used those numbers before, but had never won until now. The Pick 4 enthusiast said she realized the numbers hit when visiting her daughter, who was working at the retail location, the day after the drawing.
The first-time Lottery winner said she plans to pay off her vehicle with a portion of the windfall.
As for advice for fellow Lottery players, she said to "stick to the same numbers."
Dampier purchased the winning ticket at Leatherwood Hills, 1641 W. Route K in Columbia.
Pick 4 is 50 cents or $1 per play and has an average of 130 winners per draw. Players can win from $30 to $6,000 on a $1 play by matching a wide variety of numbers and combinations. Drawings are held daily at 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
