Villa Ridge Woman Claims 'Triple Bingo' Prize

A stop at Wayside, a gas station located at 3302 Highway 100 in Villa Ridge, sent Karen Schmieg home with unexpected news of a $1,003 Lottery win.  Schmieg, 54, uncovered her prize on a Missouri Lottery “Triple Bingo” Scratchers ticket and couldn’t wait to tell her husband, Jon.

“I started screaming at my husband to shut up, so I could tell him,” she laughed as she recalled the moment she realized her ticket was a winner.  “I wanted to tell him we had to go to the Lottery office (to claim her prize).”

Once the news was out, the couple “high-fived and hugged each other.”

In addition to putting some money aside to build toward “vacation next year,” she said she also plans to share a bit with the clerk who sold her the ticket.

“What goes around comes around,” she explained of her generous gesture.
