A Kansas man is the latest to claim a $50,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Crossword” Scratchers ticket. Don Thompson, of Louisburg, Kan., purchased his winning ticket at Cleveland Grocery, 24620 South State Route D in Cleveland, on Sept. 14.
“I always buy tickets there,” he said of his routine stop to get gas and pick up a couple of Scratchers tickets. “I sat outside the store and scratched them.”
Upon realizing he had won $50,000, he “waited for a while before I yelled, let it sink in.”
It’s the largest prize Thompson has won, but he said he was also lucky to have won $20,000 on a Scratchers ticket from the Kansas Lottery “six or eight years ago.” He noted that he prefers playing the instant games because they “help me kill some time and relax.”
Thompson’s immediate plans for his winnings include a new truck, “probably a Ford.”
“Crossword” is a $3 game that officially began July 18. Details about remaining prizes for “Crossword” and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
