Out-of-Towner's Vacation Fuels $10,000 Powerball Win

audio icon One woman brought back more than memories from her summer vacation in Missouri.  Arlyce Klause of Wilmer, Minn., her husband and another couple were "having a good time" in Branson when a friend’s suggestion prompted her to try her luck on a Powerball ticket.

"My friend said, ’Hey, let’s buy a Powerball ticket,’ and I said, ’OK,’" she began.  "I didn’t think I was going to win anything."

To the first-time Lottery winner’s surprise, she ended up taking home a $10,000 prize from the Sept. 12 Powerball drawing by matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball.

"I’m putting it in my savings account," she noted.

Klause said she wants to return to Branson for another vacation someday, but for now, what doesn’t go into her savings account will be used for a trip to Florida next year.

"One of my sons lives there, so we’re planning on making a visit," she added.

The winning numbers from the Sept. 12 Powerball drawing were:  13, 28, 41, 53 and 56.  The Powerball number was 25.

Klause purchased the winning ticket at Fuel Expresso, 1000 Washington St. in Chillicothe.

Powerball is a multi-state game that features jackpots starting at $20 million.
