St. James Woman Wins $3,003 on "Triple Bingo"

Story Photo A St. James woman is planning to "get caught up on bills" after uncovering a $3,003 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Triple Bingo" Scratchers ticket.  Bonnie Council, 44, purchased the winning ticket at DJ’s Package and Sporting, 314 N. Jefferson St. in St. James.

It was a restless night for the first-time Lottery winner who realized she won after scratching the ticket at her home on Sept. 10.

"I checked the ticket about 20 times," she said.  "I couldn’t wait for this morning to claim the ticket."

Making the trip to the Jefferson City Lottery office wasn’t new for Council, because three months earlier she accompanied her fiancé Dave Shankle to the same office to claim his "Triple Bingo" prize of $1,000.

According to Shankle, he plays "Triple Bingo," because there are a "variety of ways to win."  Council doesn’t have a favorite game, but she noted that she is "very grateful" for her recent good fortune.

"This couldn’t have come at a better time," she added.

In terms of advice for fellow Lottery players, she shared some encouraging words.

"Don’t give up hope.  Good things happen."

"Triple Bingo," a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on June 13.
