St. Louis Woman Receives "Spicy" Surprise

audio icon A St. Louis woman is $27,777 richer after uncovering a top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Spicy 7’s" Scratchers ticket.  Katrinka Terry purchased the winning ticket at Schnucks Market, 4171 Lindell Blvd. in St. Louis, on Aug. 31, but didn’t realize she was a winner until the following morning.

"I remembered I had a ticket in my wallet," she began.  "I scratched it off, and when I got to the seven, I looked over and saw the amount, and I couldn’t believe it!  I rubbed my eyes again, and it was the same amount.  I was ecstatic!"

After calling a friend to share the good news, the first time Lottery winner made her way to the St. Louis Lottery office to claim her prize.

When asked about plans for the windfall, she noted that she would "pay bills."

"The rest of it, I am going to distribute to people who have helped me along the way," she said.

As for the Lottery, she added that she will continue to play, because "that’s the only way you’re going to win."

"Spicy 7’s," a $2 game with a top prize of $27,777, officially began on May 2.
