State Worker Starts Week with $10,000 Prize

Story Photo audio icon A Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services employee’s decision to stop at Petro Mart, 3296 Gold Ave. in Kingdom City, turned out to be worth $10,000.  Imogene Wiggs of Doniphan won $15 on an "Emerald Green 8’s" Scratchers ticket the previous week, so she collected the winnings and bought three more tickets on her way home from work on Aug. 31.

"I got in the car to go home, and I started scratching, and I thought, ’Oh my God," recalled Wiggs.

After realizing she was holding a winning ticket, she went back into the store to "share my joy" with the clerks who sold her the winning ticket.

Next on the agenda was calling family and friends to spread the news.

Although this is the first "big" prize she has ever won, Wiggs isn’t new to the idea of winning.

"All the ’Emerald Greens’ that I buy, I always win on them," she added.  "I won $500, $250 and $100."

Wiggs had the following advice to share with fellow Lottery winners searching for their Lottery paydays.

"Play what you have, but pay your bills first!"

"Emerald Green 8’s," a $5 game with a top prize of $88,000, officially began on July 18.
