Bourbon Woman Celebrates $20,000 Lottery Win
A restaurant worker at the Circle Inn Malt Shop along historic Route 66 in Bourbon is celebrating her good fortune. While making a stop on behalf of the restaurant, Libby Hawks decided to also pick up a Scratchers ticket for herself at the Bourbon Family Center, 140 W. Pine Street in Bourbon.
"I went in and got the ticket," started Hawks. "I went back to my Jeep. When I scratched the first one off, I thought it said $100, but it was $1,000. Then when I got the coin next to it, I was like, ’Oh boy, I’ve got them all.’"
According to Hawks, the store parking lot was quickly transformed into a celebration, as well-wishers gathered to congratulate her.
"When I got out of the Jeep and started hollering, everybody come to me," she recalled. "I was hugging strangers."
Hawks, who considers herself a regular Scratchers player, said she chose the "$250,000 Mega Cash" Scratchers ticket because she knew it was close to being retired and that the game still had big winners remaining. Players can follow prizes remaining for each Scratchers game on Molottery.com.
Described by her daughter as a "workaholic," Hawks said she would use some of the prize money to open her own printing business. But for now, you can find her dispensing advice from behind the counter at the Circle Inn Malt Shop.
"If you don’t play, you won’t win," stated Hawks.
"$250,000 Mega Cash"
