BLUE SPRINGS BARTENDER WINS $25,000 TAX PAID

A Blue Springs woman can thank convenience foods for helping her win $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 drawing on Monday. Judy Wipperman, 55, said she stopped in Blue Springs Price Chopper on Monday morning to buy some TV dinners that were on sale, and while she was there, she decided to buy a couple SHOW ME 5 tickets. One set of numbers matched all five drawn to win the top prize. Wipperman, who tends bar for the Blue Springs American Legion, said she isn’t sure what she will do with the windfall, other than paying some bills and making some investments. Wipperman let the computer select the winning numbers on her ticket. Those numbers were: 9, 22, 25, 27 and 30. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
