Neosho Store Sells Lottery Ticket Worth $500,000

A quick stop to purchase Missouri Lottery tickets is part of Lynda Fry’s regular routine.  Winning $500,000, however, was a new twist the Neosho woman was happy to add after uncovering the top prize on a “$500,000 Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket she purchased at Hickory Creek Corner, 1549 N. College Ave. in Neosho.

Upon claiming her prize at the Lottery’s Springfield regional office, Fry recounted a simple trip earlier in the week to run errands – an outing that led her to scratch off a few Scratchers tickets in her car.

“I kept looking at the numbers and looking at the prize,” she began.  “I thought I must be reading something wrong,” she said of her initial disbelief at the large prize amount shown on her ticket.  “As soon as I got my legs to let me go back in, I went back into the store” to verify that the ticket was, in fact, a big winner.

“I told them, ‘Please tell me I’m not crazy,’” she said.

The retailer confirmed her win, and Fry quickly grabbed her cell phone to share the good news with her husband, Kenny.  She then continued with the rest of her errands, noting that even a lottery win didn’t mean she didn’t need to get groceries.

The idea of such a large win is still sinking in for the 66-year-old, but paying off bills was at the top of her to-do list.

$500,000 Cash Spectacular” is a $10 game that officially began March 28.  Details on remaining prizes for “$500,000 Cash Spectacular” and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found on Molottery.com.
