Sedalia Man Surprised by Pick 4 Win

Story Photo A first-time Lottery winner was "very excited and surprised" to learn that he was holding a winning Pick 4 ticket worth $3,250 on Aug. 18.  Dan Bell, 39, said he was watching television when he remembered to check the ticket that he purchased at Jacee’s Express, 3415 E. Broadway Blvd. in Sedalia.

"I work nights, but I was off the night I won," he revealed.  "It was about 1 a.m. when I checked the ticket."

Bellspent the next few hours celebrating quietly while his wife and son slept.  He shared the news with his family the next morning.

"My wife was happy," he added.  "She said it was about time that I won!"

When asked about plans for the prize money, Bell said he will pay bills and "see what’s left."

"I’m going to drive home and deposit the check in the bank right now," Bell noted after claiming his prize at the Jefferson City Lottery office on Aug. 19.

Pick 4 is 50 cents or $1 per play and has an average of 130 winners per draw.  Players can win from $30 to $6,000 on a $1 play by matching a wide variety of numbers and combinations.  Drawings are held daily at 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
