Roberts Appointed To Missouri Lottery Commission

Kevin C. Roberts of Hillsboro was recently appointed by Gov. Jay Nixon to serve as a member of the Missouri Lottery Commission.  Roberts’ appointment on Aug. 11 is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending Sept. 7, 2011.

Roberts is a partner in the law firm of Breeze, Roberts, Ponder-Bates, Wooten & Zimmer, L.L.C.  He has a bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Roberts is a member of the Missouri Bar, the State Bar of South Dakota, the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the National and Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Jefferson County Bar. 

He serves on the board of directors for the South Dakota State University Foundation; Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, YMCA of Jefferson County and is a member of the Hillsboro Community Civic Club and previously served on the Hillsboro R-3 Board of Education for 14 years.

The Missouri Lottery Commission is a five-member commission, appointed by the governor and approved by the Senate, to govern the Lottery.  Pamela Wright of University City was appointed to the commission on July 30.  Three seats are currently vacant on the commission.

The Missouri Lottery generates nearly $1 billion a year in sales and contributes more than $259 million annually to Missouri public education programs, including the A+ Scholarship Program, the Virtual Schools program, Special Education Excess Costs and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
