For George Huskey, the decision to try something new paid off with a Lottery win. Huskey, a construction worker from St. Louis, won $13,541 playing Club Keno – a game that was new to the 26-year-old.
According to Huskey, he had gone with some friends to Sports Attic, 8212 Manchester Road in Brentwood, and “played $6 and got three draws” for the fast-paced Numbers Game that draws 20 numbers every five minutes. He won $5.
“So then I pulled a dollar in change out of my pocket to put with that $5,” he said, “and played the same numbers again” for three additional drawings.
“My friend was telling me, ‘Nobody ever wins. You’re not going to win anything.’”
About that time, Huskey responded, “I think I just got seven out of seven,” referring to the 7-spot game he selected. He had also chosen the game’s Bulls-Eye option, and matching that number led to an even bigger prize.
Both the bartender and the bar’s owner thought he was kidding when he first told them of his win. According to Huskey, “They said, ‘You have too straight a face to have won.’”
The bartender double-checked his numbers and shared how happy she was to now “have a story to tell” about someone brand new to Keno winning at their establishment.
