Bourbon Woman Uncovers $100,000 Lottery Prize

Retirement has been good for Wanda Stein.  Having just retired in April after 43 years of waitressing, the Bourbon woman has since claimed two big Missouri Lottery prizes.  In May, her “Cash Explosion” Scratchers ticket revealed a $20,000 prize and, most recently, the “10x the Money” ticket she purchased on July 29 yielded the game’s top prize of $100,000.

“It was shocking.  I couldn’t believe it,” the 62-year-old said of the moment she scratched off the winning ticket in her vehicle outside Pacific Motomart, 279 N. Payne St. in Pacific.

It was an exceptional streak of good luck, especially given the fact that when asked if she’s a regular buyer of Scratchers tickets, she replied, “Not usually.”

Plans for the unexpected windfall are still up in the air.

“I just don’t know yet,” she said.  “Probably take a trip… and save some.”  She and her son Shawn, who was on hand at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office to claim the winning ticket with his mother, also plan to share the good fortune with her other son who lives in Florida.

10x the Money,” a $5 game offering a $100,000 top prize, officially began on May 2.  Details on remaining prizes for “10x the Money” and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found on Molottery.com.
