Independence Woman Plans Trip to Disney World with Lottery Prize

audio icon An Independence woman was late to work on Aug. 3, but her reason was worth $124,827.  According to Heidi Ramsey, a CAT scan technician at Truman Medical Center, she called her employer and "told them I’d be a little late" after checking her Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash ticket and discovering she won the jackpot prize from the Aug. 2 drawing.

"I’ve never won anything before," she revealed.  "I usually don’t even buy these tickets, but my friend won $64,000 just a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I’d buy a ticket."

As luck would have it, a stop at QuikTrip, 1225 S. Noland Road in Independence, for a newspaper and a Show Me Cash ticket turned out to produce more than expected.

"I still can’t believe it," she added.  "I called my mom and my sister, and they didn’t believe it."

The first-time Lottery winner plans to purchase a new vehicle with a portion of the windfall, and "take my son to Disney World."

Ramsey, 26, used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers which were:  5, 16, 25, 31 and 39.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing.  Ramsey was the 50th Show Me Cash Jackpot winner since the game began on Sept. 8.  To date, more than $5.9 million has been awarded in the game.
