Missouri Lottery Ticket Provides 'Special Occasion' for Valley Park Man

Roger Daegele Jr. doesn’t consider himself a routine Missouri Lottery Scratchers player, but his purchase of a “10X the Money” ticket on July 31 proved to be a profitable move on his part.  Daegele, 51, walked away with a $20,000 prize on the $5 game.

“I usually just buy them [Scratchers tickets] to give for special occasions,” he said.  The urge struck him, however, to buy two tickets a couple of days prior to his big win.  Those tickets won the Valley Park man $25, which he then used to purchase his winning ticket at Butler Hill Gas and Food, 5204 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis.

“I went to work, drank my coffee, scratched it off and about had a heart attack,” he recalled with a laugh.  Though he didn’t plan on taking the day off work, he said he “couldn’t stand it’ and decided to go ahead and take the day to claim his $20,000 prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office.

As for plans for his prize money, the maintenance technician said he intends to “pay off some bills.”

“And I have a son headed off to Southeast Missouri State [University] in two weeks,” he added.  “Yep, it’ll come in handy!”

10x the Money,” offering a top prize of $100,000, officially began on May 2.  Details on remaining prizes for “10x the Money” and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found on Molottery.com.
