Wentzville Man's Powerball Numbers Hit

audio icon A Wentzville man was "shocked" to discover he was holding a winning ticket from the July 25 Powerball drawing.  Scott Hutson, 33, usually buys Quick Pick tickets, but he decided to try his luck with his own random number combination, and it paid off with a $200,000 prize.

"I assumed as always that it (ticket) wasn’t a winner," he revealed.

According to Hutson, a first-time Lottery winner, he discovered he was a big winner at Wall Street 66, 301 E. Pearce Ave. in Wentzville, where he purchased the ticket days before the drawing.

In addition to Hutson’s winnings, Wall Street 66, received a check equal to 1 percent of the prize amount – or $2,000 – for selling the winning ticket.

Powerball is a multi-state game that features jackpots starting at $20 million.  Hutson’s ticket was the 139th second-level winning Powerball ticket in Missouri since the game redesign in August 2005.
