MEXICO WOMAN WINS POWERBALL
A nurse’s aide from Mexico has received some aid of her own - financial, that is. Wanda Holguin, 41, matched all five white-ball numbers in the Nov. 13 Powerball drawing to win the second-place prize of $100,000. The winning ticket had been tacked on the refrigerator with a magnet until Monday, when her husband took a handful of tickets to be checked.
"We’ll probably go on a honeymoon to Vegas," Holguin said. The Holguins were married in June, and they did not have a chance to take a honeymoon trip.
The couple also said they will use some of the money to pay off some bills and put a down payment on a house.
Holguin said they purchased the winning ticket at Junction Fuel & Grocery in New Florence, when they were in the area deer hunting. The couple did not have the numbers they usually play in the lottery with them, so they let the computer select the combination. The winning numbers were: 13, 16, 26, 32 and 34.
