St. Louis Woman Wins "Triple Bingo"

Story Photo audio icon A regular bingo player hit the jackpot on a "Triple Bingo" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on July 2.   Shelle Veres of St. Louis used the winnings from a previous ticket to buy two more "Triple Bingo" tickets at Shop ’n Save, 7057 Chippewa St. in St. Louis.  One of those tickets concealed the top prize of $50,003.

"We went to the (Cardinals) ballgame that evening and when we got home, I told my husband ’I have two Bingo cards because I had a $6 winner.  Pick the one you want,’" recalled Veres.

Anticipation began to build as they scratched their tickets and Veres noted that she was one number away from the top prize.  She found the number she needed just a few scratches later.

"I started screaming," said Veres.  "My husband said, ’Quiet down.  Our neighbors are going to call the police.’"

Veres, 53, and her husband, Steve, have already made several plans for how to use the money.  They made a wish list of things they wanted to do, separating them into columns by size and importance.  The Veres’ then chose a few items from each column.  The big reward will be a trip to Hawaii to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.

"We couldn’t sleep," recounted Veres.  "I made a pot of coffee.  I’m like, I’m just going to stay up.  I can’t sleep."

"Triple Bingo" is a $3 game that officially began on June 13.  Veres is the first to claim one of the six top prizes available in this game.
