WINFIELD WOMAN CRUISES INTO 2000

A 73-year-old Winfield woman plans to have a "Happy New Year" after she checked her SHOW ME 5 tickets this morning and found out one from Dec. 31 is worth $25,000 tax paid.* Dorothy Langley said she and her husband, Hubert, plan to use the winnings to do some work on their house and buy some stock. Langley, who is retired from General Motors, purchased her winning ticket at Fast Lane "Convenience Corner" in Winfield. She won using a combination of numbers she has been playing for several years. The winning numbers were: 8, 10, 13, 21 and 30. To date, 815 SHOW ME 5 tickets worth $25,000 cash have been sold since the game began in November 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
