Eldon Paramedic Wins $10,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon An Eldon woman is celebrating with friends after winning $10,000 on a Missouri Lottery "$500,000 Cash Spectacular" Scratchers ticket.  Barbara Bennett, a first-time Lottery winner, purchased the ticket at Break Time, 1200 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson City, but kept it "locked in the glove box" for several days.

"I scratched it off on the way to Columbia," she began.  "I got the first number, and I got the second number, and I got the third number, which was a coin."

Bennett, a paramedic for Miller County Ambulance in Eldon, ended up with a "really nice" ticket with "a lot of $500 prizes."

"I added it (prize amount) up three or four times," she revealed.  "Everybody that I’ve shown it to adds it up three or four times before it sinks in."

According to Bennett, plans for the prize money include paying off credit cards and treating two of her friends to lunch.

Bennett, 59, claimed her ticket at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City on May 4.

"$500,000 Cash Spectacular," a $10 Scratchers game with a top prize of $500,000, officially began on March 28.  To date, two top prizes, as well as numerous prizes ranging from $10-$20,000, remain in play.
