FESTUS MAN WINS $25,000 TAX PAID

A 27-year-old Festus man can fix up his basement and put some money into his daughter’s college fund after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game on Saturday. Chad Fink said he and his wife, Karen, also plan to share some money with their family. Fink purchased his winning ticket at Crystal City Citgo, 801 N. Truman Blvd. in Crystal City. He said he always buys $2 worth of SHOW ME 5 tickets for each drawing, and he picks one set of numbers and lets the computer pick one set of numbers. The winning combination - 10, 13, 16, 20 and 21 - was one the computer generated. Fink is an assembler at the Chrysler plant in Fenton. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
