Armed with a set of numbers hand-picked by his daughters, Chapelle Norise matched all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot prize in the Missouri Lottery’s April 7 Show Me Cash drawing.  Each of his five daughters selected one of the winning numbers – 11, 13, 15, 21 and 27 – leading to the $60,000 prize.

“All the numbers, I got from the kids,” he said.  He had previously asked each of his daughters to pick a number between 1 and 39 and continued to use the same combination of numbers each time he played Show Me Cash.  He recently thought about switching them, but luckily his wife urged him to stick to the girls’ selection.

As for the moment he realized he was a big winner, Norise said, “On Sunday (April 12), something just told me to check my ticket.”  So he headed back to the 7-Eleven at 201 N. 17th St. in St. Louis, where he had bought the ticket.

“I had to ask three or four people, ‘Is this for real?’” he shared.  “They were like, ‘Man, you won!’  I couldn’t believe it.”

The surprise and celebration continued when he got home.  Norise also has a son and, with “three kids in college and three in high school,” the news had him and his wife, Teloni, “jumping all through the house.”

The family already has a laundry list of ideas for where his winnings will go.  “Pay off the car… part of the house… bills,” he started.  Regarding an already-scheduled vacation to Florida, the deputy sheriff noted, “Now it will be plentiful.”

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000 and increases by at least $5,000 at each daily drawing.
