TWO ST. LOUIS MEN EACH WIN $25,000 TAX PAID

Two St. Louis men are heading into the weekend with $25,000 cash after claiming their SHOW ME 5 prizes this afternoon. Eugene "Gene" Uram (63110**), 62, and Donald "Don" Ponder (63136**), 37, each received a check for $25,000 tax paid.* Uram purchased his winning Quick Pick ticket for the July 16 drawing that same day when he stopped in Schnucks Market, 5055 Arsenal in St. Louis, to get a prescription filled. Uram, who works for the St. Louis Board of Education, said he just had surgery and the winnings will help pay medical expenses. He may also use some of the money to pay for a garage he is adding on to his house. The winning numbers from the July 16 drawing were: 3, 16, 19, 22 and 26. Ponder bought his winning ticket for the July 24 drawing at Central City S & R II, 10901 Old Halls Ferry Road in St. Louis. He used a combination of birthdays to pick the winning numbers. They were: 1, 9, 10, 15 ad 19. Ponder, a construction worker, said he plans to pay bills and take a vacation with his prize money. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption.
