Slater GE Laborer has "$100,000 Payday"

Story Photo A General Electric (GE) laborer from Slater is cashing a $100,000 paycheck this week.  Leon Johnson, a first-time Lottery winner, bought two Missouri Lottery "$100,000 Payday" Scratchers tickets on March 28, and walked away with the top prize.

"I scratched one ticket and didn’t win anything, so I waited a little while to scratch the other one," he began.  "I stopped to get gas and scratched the other ticket while sitting in my truck."

It was at the gas station that Johnson learned he was $100,000 richer.

"I didn’t realize it right away," revealed Johnson.  "It took me about 10 minutes for the win to sink in."

According to Johnson, he decided to purchase two "$100,000 Payday" tickets at City Pharmacy, 229 N. Main St. in Slater, for one reason.

"I like to try the new games when they come out," he said.

When asked about plans for the prize money, Johnson noted he intended to "pay off bills."

"$100,000 Payday," a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on March 28.  To date, four top prizes and four $20,000 second prizes, as well as numerous prizes ranging from $5-5,000, remain in play.

Non-winning "$100,000 Payday" tickets can be entered in the Missouri Lottery’s "Get Cruisin’" promotion, which offers players a chance to win a backyard redesign, vehicles, cruises, cash and more.
