Trip for Eggs Hatches $27,777 Prize

A Butler woman was in the process of making a pineapple upside down cake when she realized she was missing an ingredient.  Vickie Rosier, a first-time Lottery winner, ended up with more than a dozen eggs in her kitchen after her trip to Yoss Thriftway, Highway 71 in Adrian, on March 23.

"I needed more eggs for my cake, so I went to the store," said Rosier.  "I bought a couple Lottery tickets, too.   I put the cake in the oven and scratched the tickets on my kitchen counter."

Rosier, 63, ended up winning the top prize on one of the three Missouri Lottery "Sapphire Blue 7’s" Scratchers tickets she purchased.

"I thought I scratched the wrong line, because I couldn’t believe that I won $27,777," revealed Rosier.  "After I saw I won, I brought the cake over to my neighbor’s house and we celebrated."

According to Rosier, a hide dealer and mother of two, the prize money will "come in handy."

"One of my sons wants a barbeque grill," she began.  "I will probably put in a carport for my truck…and buy some cows."

"Sapphire Blue 7’s," a $2 game with a top prize of $27,777, officially began on Aug. 30, 2008.  To date, two top prizes and numerous additional prizes remain in play.
