Stotts City Student Wins $25,000 Prize

Story Photo A Stotts City student is $25,000 richer after she uncovered the top prize on a Missouri Lottery “5X Lucky” Scratchers ticket on March 25.  Billie Weidmann, 31, said she just got out of class at ITT Technical Institute, when she stopped at Kum & Go, 3416 S. National Ave. in Springfield, to buy cigarettes.  While there, she bought two Scratchers tickets.

“I scratched them in my truck,” she said.  “I thought to myself, ‘This is not real.’”

Weidmann said she went back in the store to verify the win with the clerk.  Then she called her Mom and her husband, John, to tell them the good news.

Weidmann said she plans to use the prize money to pay bills.  She also plans to buy a couple of fun items for her two children, who are 7 and 8.
“They’re probably going to want movies,” she chuckled.

5X Lucky ” is a $2 game that officially started on Dec. 10, 2008.
