Halfway Man Wins $30,000 Prize

Story Photo audio icon A lab technician from Halfway is celebrating his luck all the way to the bank.  Terry Ivie, 56, stopped for some snacks and Powerball tickets on March 18, and decided to pick up a couple of "Triple Fortune" Scratchers tickets.  Both tickets were winners, but one of them revealed the top prize of $30,000.
"This was the big one," recalled Ivie.  "I mean they both won.  The other one won thirty bucks.  I gave my wife the $30."
Ivie bought the tickets at 83 Convenience, 1301 N. Oakland in Bolivar.  He stopped to buy Powerball tickets for his group of co-workers at the local hospital, and decided to get two Scratchers while he was there.
"I’ve been playing that game for the last couple of weeks," said Ivie.  "This was just… I felt good about it."
Ivie said plans for the money include paying off his wife’s car and putting some money in the bank for retirement.  Beyond that, Ivie said that he and his wife Shawn would be taking a weekend getaway to celebrate their anniversary.
"We had already planned on doing something for our anniversary," explained Ivie.  "This just puts a little icing on the cake."
"Triple Fortune" is a $2 game that officially began Jan 31.
