Nursing Home Attendant Wins $25,000 Prize

Story Photo An Elkland woman has plans to "help family" after winning $25,000 on a Missouri Lottery "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Scratchers ticket.  Cynthia Stewart, a 53-year-old first-time Lottery winner, discovered she was a winner on her way home from work on March 22.

"I work at nursing home in Marshfield, and I always stop at Murphy USA after my shift," said Stewart.  "I started scratching the ticket in my car, and I got so nervous that I had to bring it (ticket) into the store and have the clerk help me scratch it the rest of the way."

According to Stewart, the clerk "started to cry" and jumped up and down with her after confirming the ticket was a $25,000 winner.

"I know the clerk from seeing her in the store," she revealed.  "She was so happy for me that she had tears in her eyes when she told me how much I won.  It was very exciting!"

Stewart is going to "pay bills leftover from Christmas," pay off her vehicle and share the winnings with her family.

"I didn’t believe it at first that I really won," she began.  "It took me about 30 minutes until I could call my son.  Then I called my sister and brother after that with the news."

Stewart purchased the winning ticket from Murphy USA, 14724 State Highway 38 in Marshfield.

"4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza," a $20 Scratchers game with a top prize of $4 million, officially began on Jan. 26, 2008.  To learn more about "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" and all of the Missouri Lottery’s games, visit Molottery.com.
