Ste. Genevieve Sheet Metal Tech Wins $60,000 Jackpot

Story Photo A 50-year-old sheet metal technician from Ste. Genevieve is $60,000 richer after winning the Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash jackpot from the Feb. 18 drawing.  June Huck, a first-time Lottery winner, purchased her winning ticket from Beck’s Mini-Mart, 1227 Telegraph Road in Arnold.

According to Huck, she was at work when she learned her fate.

"I was eating my lunch and checking my tickets," revealed Huck.  "I noticed my numbers were an exact match to the winning numbers, and I immediately started thinking about who I could call, because everyone was at lunch!"

Huck noted that "the place was in an uproar" when her co-workers returned from lunch.

"Everyone told me to take off work the next day," she said.

With her co-workers’ blessings, Huck took a vacation day to claim her winning ticket, but the night before heading to a Lottery office was a sleepless one.

"I kept waking up and looking at the ticket to make sure it was still there," expressed Huck.

As for plans for the windfall, Huck hopes to take a trip to visit family in Washington, pay bills and pay off her vehicle.

When asked how she chose the winning numbers, Huck explained that she has been playing her own random numbers for years, and they "finally paid off."  The winning numbers were 12, 15, 16, 18 and 36.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing.  Huck was the 21st Show Me Cash jackpot winner since the game began on Sept. 8.
