Torn Ticket Leads Madison Woman to $10,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo  A Madison bride-to-be is able to plan her upcoming wedding with ease thanks to a $10,000 Missouri Lottery prize.  Stephanie Howell, 27, recently moved to Missouri from Texas to wed her fiancé Rick Miller, also of Madison.  According to Howell, her fiancé often buys Lottery tickets for the couple, but Miller claims that "Stephanie is the lucky one."

It appears luck was on her side on March 2 when Miller bought two Missouri Lottery "Triple Fortune" Scratchers tickets, and the winning one ended up in his fiancé’s hands.

"The way we won was really funny, because the first ticket the cashier pulled off for us ripped, so the manager asked the clerk to buy that ticket," revealed Miller.  "So we ended up with the next ticket, which I scratched and lost on, and then Stephanie got the third ticket, which was the $10,000 winner."

Howell and Miller are looking forward to using the prize money to help fund their nuptials.

"We just set a date for the wedding the day before we won, so these were an exciting few days for us," said Howell.

The winning ticket was purchased at Junction Fuel and Grocery, 447 Booneslick Road in New Florence.

"Triple Fortune," a $2 game with a top prize of $30,000, officially began on Jan. 31.
